NCAAF Betting: Hot Fans Picks ATS

leave a comment »

So here is the game. I put up two hot fans to represent the two teams playing each other. The hottest one wins and therefore the play is on the hottest chick’ team. Pretty simple, right? I figure with my last two miserable picks there can’t be a better way to find a winning formula that is loads more fun than straight, futile analysis.

Wisconsin -22.5 points

Oh the cheese! Wisconsin is laying -22.5 at most books against Minnesota. The
gophers have one superhot cheerleader while what’s going down at this BBQ
is reminiscent of the wisdom of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic,
Shit,god-damn, get off your ass and jam. Which means the pick, and the snow
cone award goes to the chick with the great big M on her chest!

Pick! Minnesota +22.5

We’ll see if this works. If so then more to follow!

NCAAF Recrap: SMU – Winner Winner

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

This game was one of those luxury games in which the winner was really never in doubt. One of those eat a nice bbq with friends check the score only once or twice on the Deuce because you are that unconcerned with the outcome of the game. You know a feel good winner with extra V-Chips to enhance the swollen to the tune of 1.80 units on the NCAAF season and a YTD of 4-2-1 on my posted plays.

NCAAF Betting: Friday Night Lights

leave a comment »

With fans like these how can the Golden Eagles not soar tonight?

Big game tonight with all kinds of BCS implications (ha!) as the Jayhawks travel to Southern Miss for another edition of Friday Night Lights. This time we have Southern Miss set as 5.5-point chalk with the total hovering around 52-53 pts depending upon where you shop. Kansas is 5-1 ATS in the L3Y in games played in September. However, the Jayhawks are coming off a huge upset win at home against the Yellow-jackets. A game in which Kansas was set as almost a two TD home-dog.

Meanwhile, handing us the fist loss of the season were the Golden Eagles who dropped a 13-41 contest at South Carolina. Southern Miss then beat Prairie View. However, the home team is a 5.5 point favorite. Handicapping this FNL event I had Kansas as a pick ’em, or even SM as a -1 pt favorite so the 5.5 points makes absolutely no sense. Other than that this is the only college action on the WWL and it is a square night so jack up the points as high as the market will bear, right. Even though, I am not biting and going to the dogs.

Two Red Lights:

1) Kansas lost N. Dakota state 3-6???????, but plays well against the Yellow-Jackets. And, how will Kansas play on the road? Both win and loss came at home and so it will be interesting how they fare against an SM team that is 1-0 ATS in the last three seasons against Kansas.

2) Revenge. Last year Kansas won but did not cover the 11.5 points at home, 35-28.

Pick! Southern Miss -5. I am paying twenty cents to buy down the hook.

Las Vegas Bowl – Another Beaver Hunt

leave a comment »

With only three shopping days left until christmas we look to continue to wrap boxes full of units and put them under the tree along with the various sex toys, drug paraphenalia, scratch tickets and kiddie toys. Meanwhile, as the crow flies it looks like we’re heading out to Vegas (with the newly vandalized Fabulous Sign) for the MAACO Bowl.

…last time the Cougars beat the Beavers was back when leisure suits and cocaine spoon necklaces were the rage (still think you only missed the funny hair and clothes?) in 1978…

Are you as disappointed as Oregon State that the Beavers aren’t going to the Rose Bowl? Perhaps the only thing more exciting will be the “Outback Buffet Bowl” and Pie Eating Contest on Freemont St. when both teams come together in a show of good will. Nothing says solidarity like a gluttonous evening before the “Big Game.” Oh, wait I don’t think this qualifies as the big game for either team.

Also, how excited can you get if you are a Mormon and are sent to a post-modern Sodom/Gemorah? Talk about a prosthelitizer’s wet dream. Suffice it to say the foot soldiers of the Christ of Latter Day Saints won’t be visiting “Little Darlings” under the 15 on Western. It is no surprse that BYU has won 3 bowls in five years, or lost two bowls in two years if you are a pessimist. The Cougars take this shit seriously. Sin City may as well be Mayberry for all the shit that they’ll stir up the night before.

However, last time the Cougars beat the Beavers was back when leisure suits and cocaine spoon necklaces were the rage (still think you only missed the funny hair and clothes?) in 1978. Beavers have won five of eight against the Cougars and have a major threat in RB Jacquizz Rodgers. Can the 23rd ranked Cougar D stop them? The simple answer is how much does Rogers drink at the Outback Buffet Bowl..that is yet to be seen. Keep in mind that this OSU team is much different that the 2005 one that made frequent appearances in the police blotter.

OSU is very loosey-goosey supping on In-Out Burgers and enjoying dead bird practical jokes. This game will feature two top-15 QBs in the draft and should be a fun aerial game to watch. Hall and Canfield are both explosive and can deliver the ball with pin-point precision. While many expect this I wouldn’t count out a very heavy dose of Rodgers. He should be able to run down hill behind his beefy front line.

I wouldn’t make too much about the Krebs Brothers leaving OSU just before the LV Bowl as both players were red shirt freshman and had never played a down so there loss is minimal.

They say that if you repeat an action hoping for a different result you have the defiintion of insanity-which is exactly what I see backing BYU is. BYU giving three points in this spot is an early christmas gift if you ask me. Sure OSU is disappointed about not going to the Rose Bowl, but how much so when you are in a Conference with USC? You can hope but you don’t really expect to go so while it is a disappointment it isn’t heartbreaking.

What really gets me about this BYU team is the shellacking they took at home against FSU. And as always book it tonight as this pick is……

SOLID GOLD!

Pick! Oregon State +3 for five dimes.

NOLA Bowl – Upset City

leave a comment »

12/20/09 – Good thing I only leaned on the under because that would have obscured the fact that we evaded the pendulum’s pernicious blade and return to post with my life intact-in fact with a life to spare and another 10 Dimes in my pocket. Class is back in session today in the New Orleans bowl where the Golden Eagles of Southerm Miss will attempt their fourth consecutive bowl win.

It will be hard for SM to top the exciting 30-28 finish over Troy in last year’s New Orleans Bowl. And if you listen to the experts even their grandmothers have a little stash on the Golden Eagles -4. no brainer. MTSU got anhilated by Troy last time out. Golden Eagles pretty much have to show up and it is a win right? Not such a long drive from Hattiesberg to New Orleans; I once spent some time drinking Old Corn Dog (down home corn whiskey) on my drive from NOLA to Hattiesberg. Mississippi was something else.

Both offenses are evenly matched but I am looking at the fact that the Blue Raider defense is very effective at tackles for loss. Conversely, the Eagles while good on the line their secondary is circumspect at best. Will they be able to stop the potent offense of the Blue Raiders?

I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset with a last second FG. SMiss had to rally last year to win the NOLA bowl and if they do win I can see it happening the same way. In fact this is an easy trip for the G. Eagles they’ll even bring some fans but will they be pumped to return to the Nola Bowl? The harsh reality is the Golden Eagles would rather be playing in the Liberty Bowl. Pick: MTSU +4 for 3 Dimes.
